Will Eisner
died yesterday due to heart complications.  I’m lucky to have seen him speak this past summer.  I almost didn’t bother going, but at the last minute I decided I might never get a chance to see him again, and I’m glad I got the chance.  More info here

I’m devastated. I just found out reading your blog. He was totally my hero.

The Spirit was a thing of beauty. :(

So what was he like when you saw him speak? What can you tell us about the man in person?

Robot Johnny says:

He seemed like a nice guy.  It was funny listening to an 87-year old man talk about drawing sexy ladies.  He shared the stage, unfortunately, with Dave Sim, who kinda stole the spotlight.

In this program (narrated in Dutch, interviews in English), a beautiful interview with him:

Wow! What a great opportunity! It’s really cool how his work evolved with the times but didn’t really drastically change. He had great style.
