Language is Cheeky

I subscribe to a number of “word-a-day” email lists, including one from Wordsmith.org.  Today’s word is:

dasypygal (da-si-PYE-gul) adjective
Having hairy buttocks.

I love that words like this even exist.

I got:
dour DOO-uhr; DOW-uhr, adjective:
1. Harsh; stern.
2. Unyielding; inflexible; obstinate.
3. Marked by ill humor; gloomy; sullen.

which is not nearly as fun as yours. But at least I can put mine in a sentence. That people understand.

I got that one from dictionary.com as well, but I don’t really like thier words-a-day anymore… they’re never as fun as those from wordsmith.org and, like dour, they’re usually words I already know.
