Last night while down the street at my my favourite local restaurant I noticed two familiar faces sitting at the next table. Comic-creators Seth and Chester Brown (and two men I didn’t immediately recognize) were dining, chatting, and what looked like sharing new work with each other.
I kept trying to catch glimpses of the drawings being passed around, but at the risk of looking like an oggling fanboy, I turned my attention to my spinach lasagna and later drew this picture instead.
patricia says:
Great drawing!
Why didn’t you introduce yourself, silly? You could have mentioned that you had just recently had drinks with Jay, yada yada.....
-----
Robot Johnny says:
I’m awful at introducing myself!
patricia says:
Well how the heck did we ever become friends?
I must have thrown myself at you. I have a tendency to do that to cute men.
Robot Johnny says:
We first met at the NCS Christmas party… I vaguely knew your name from the Wisen, and you greeted me with “YOU’RE ROBOT JOHNNY!!!”
mom says:
Johnny my boy...You really must get over that
“I’m not good at introducing myself” routine.
You’re a big boy & are perfectly capable of
introducing yourself. Next time---get with the
program & say Hello, my name is John etc. etc. etc. Love Mom............
Robot Johnny says:
Just great, I’ve been shamed by my mom on my own website! *blush*
Kathleen says:
Hahah! That’s so cute! Hi Mrs. Martz!
patricia says:
Er, uhh.... honestly, Mrs. Martz, I didn’t throw myself at him!
But I do recall yelling “YOU’RE ROBOT JOHNNY!!!”
sheesh.
Ward says:
I love how moms tell it like it is. Go Mom!
beth maher says:
Seriously though, your mom is right dude. Seth and Chester Brown! So super cool.
matt says:
great sketch! seth, chester, and your mom must be proud.
Sarah says:
Ah, how silly of me....I thought you were gazing at me...and now I find out it was actually the lasagna…
mom says:
This is great fun! I guess I should
voice my comments oftener.
Hi Kathleen---missed seeing you at
Easter! Just me...Mom…
Kathleen says:
Missed seeing you too! Stoopid school.
Oftener.. it’s a perfectly cromulent word.
Andy Baio says:
If it makes you feel better, I’m sure it would’ve been twice as awkward for them as it would’ve been for you.
